Volunteer for a Day

Spring Cleanup March 29th, 2008& Fall Cleanup September 20th, 2008 : The SOLV Great Oregon Beach Cleanups occur twice a year when thousands of volunteers head to their favorite spots on the coast. Every beach is cleaned up of litter and marine debris, from the California border to the Columbia River.

SOLV IT: Join your neighbors in the greater Portland Metropolitan area for one of the largest Earth Day events in the nation, with roughly 100 sites with a wide range of activities. The 2008 date is Saturday, April 19th.

INTEL-SOLV Clean and Green Project: Help with enhancement, cleanup, and beautification projects in Washington County on Saturday, October 11th, 2008.

Down By The Riverside: Give back to your favorite waterside area, anywhere in Oregon on Saturday, May 17th, 2008. This one-day event will have over 500 sites including watershed restoration, planting, noxious weed removal, trail construction, cleanup, and more.

Tree For All; Community Stream Planting Challenge: SOLV has partnered with Clean Water Services and the Cities of Washington County to plant millions of trees in the Tualatin Basin over the coming years. Your help is needed to plant trees twice a year at large community events once in the fall and once the spring in each city.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Oregon Adopt-A-River: Care for your very own stretch of river or lake. Adopt-A-River participants adopt their stretch for a two-year period and help with litter cleanup.

Team Up for Watershed Health: Team Up helps restore Portland's urban watersheds, with ongoing work at 57 ecologically significant sites. We have weekly volunteering opportunities October through March and need your help.

SOLV's Project Oregon helps anyone who wants to organize a volunteer project anywhere in Oregon, 365 days a year. SOLV provides some small grants when available, plus planning and organizing help, materials, and coordinator's guide.

SOLV Cleanup Kits: Cleanup litter when visiting your favorite public space or walking in your neighborhood! The SOLV Cleanup Kit provides basic litter cleanup materials for volunteers who want to cleanup litter in their communities or other Oregon public spaces.

K-12 Education: Help students combine service projects in their community with their classroom learning through SOLV's Education curriculum, Students Building Community. SOLV offers the curriculum and training in service-learning to teachers around the state.

Youth Leadership: Youth Leadership for Community Action is a youth leadership development program, designed to train our youth to envision, organize, and implement successful community projects in partnership with community members.
