K-16 Education: Watershed Education

Green Team
(Grades 6-12)

Green Team is a service-learning program designed to engage a class of students in the restoration of stream sites. Students assess the health of their local watersheds and meet academic goals while learning restoration techniques and applying them to improve the environment.

Extended Application or Senior Project
(Grades 11-12)

SOLV is pleased to work with Oregon high school students on culminating or senior projects. Interested students are invited to contact SOLV early in the school year to discuss school and SOLV project requirements.

Student Leaders for SOLV
(Grades 9-Higher Ed)

SOLV offers training in basic watershed education, volunteer management and event leadership. In exchange student leaders:

  • Serve as a SOLV Liaison in your school, recruiting students to register and complete on-site work for Team Up for Watershed Health work parties.
  • Serve as a special on-site project assistant to SOLV Staff and Stream Team Captains.

Equipo Verde
(Grades 9-12)

Equipo Verde is SOLV's newest Education pilot program, involving Latino high school youth in an after-school Green Team process of their own. Students combine field work in restoration of a stream site, with classroom-based learning. The program is aligned to Oregon’s graduation requirements, and intentionally builds in opportunities for participating students to meet Career-Related Learning Standards.
