Youth Leadership for Community Action
Sponsored by The Ford Family Foundation, SOLV's Youth Leadership for Community Action program builds community in rural Oregon through service-learning projects.
This program is specifically designed to meet the new Oregon high school graduation requirements. Students must demonstrate competency in the Career-Related Learning Standards and must successfully complete an extended application. In its pilot phase, Youth Leadership for Community Action is on target to roll out in nine pre-designated communities around the state between 2005 and 2008. Currently, the program is active in Reedsport, Coquille, Powers, Vale, Cove and Union. The program was implemented in Mill City, Philomath, and Brownsville/Halsey from 2006 to 2007. This website is designed to serve as a resource for students, teachers, and community mentors. Please click on the appropriate link to find resources specific to your needs. An online forum bringing together all partners and all communities participating in this program is also available, creating a space for open communication, idea sharing, and troubleshooting. There is also a forum for teachers only. Call Belle at SOLV, 503-844-9571 or email belle@solv.org with any questions. For more information on SOLV's Education programs and tools, please click here.
