The banquet also honors the Tom McCall Leadership Award recipient. This award was created in 1994 and named for Oregon’s renowned governor and SOLV founder.

The 2007 Tom McCall Leadership Award recipients are Charles "Butch" & Caroline Swindells

Butch & Caroline Swindells’ community service improves the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of Oregonians. A wealth of local organizations benefit from their involvement including Lewis & Clark College, Oregon Public Broadcasting, Providence/St. Vincent Medical Foundation, Portland Art Museum, Oregon College of Art & Craft, and St. Mary’s Academy. During Butch’s tenure as U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand (2001-2005), the Swindells represented U.S. interests in a collaborative manner and established The Fulbright-Platinum Triangle Scholarship in Entrepreneurship.

Charles Swindells is Vice Chairman of the Western Region of U.S. Trust.
