Oregon Owner's Manual

The Oregon Owner's Manual, a manual for the responsible care of our state and its people, will help remind us why we value Oregon and inspire us to use Oregon practices in our daily lives.

Hundreds of Oregonians responded to The Oregon Owner's Manual Survey, which included more than 70 suggested Oregon Practices. Respondents were asked to choose the 12 practices they thought were the most important, ranked in order of importance.

These top 12 practices, along with inspiring language written by Jack and Jan McGowan, SOLV's former Executive Director and former Associate Director, provide the basis for the manual. Also included are selected essays and quotes written by contemporary and historical Oregonians and visitors to Oregon. Breathtaking images provided by Oregon photographer Rick Schafer and the Ray Atkeson Image Archive adorn many of the 175 pages. Fun and interesting facts about each of Oregon's 36 counties are also included.
