What is Workplace Giving?

Workplace giving is an increasingly popular way for individuals to contribute to a non-profit organization of their choice. This high degree of convenience makes sense to employees, as they may easily complete their charitable giving without having to write and mail checks to the organization of their choice…it is simply deducted from their payroll checks.

Including SOLV in your workplace giving campaign allows your company to broaden its scope of community outreach and reflect the interests of a diverse body of constituents and employees.

Why is it important to participate?

It’s not hard to see the need. More than 50% of Oregon’s native fish populations are on the brink of extinction. 1,400 miles of streams in the Willamette Basin violate the Clean Water Act. Resources at schools statewide are stretched beyond belief. Illegal dumping continues to put thousands of pounds of solid waste into our streams and open spaces statewide.

SOLV programs are the answer. In 2003 we provided 80,000 volunteer opportunities statewide resulting in $10 million of service to the state. For every dollar SOLV receives, we are able to return $9.73 of service benefiting all of Oregon’s communities.

Why SOLV needs these funds?

We know that even in the best of circumstances, it will take a generation or longer for our watersheds to be restored. That’s why we are doing business like we plan on being here in 50 years. Our plan breaks down like this: People + Action + Tools = Results.

• People: We need to engage more volunteers who bring a spirit of community, hard work and financial support to every community cleanup or river restoration activity.
• Tools: It takes a lot of tools … buying much-needed shovels and other tools for volunteers to restore our degraded watersheds is a top priority.
• Action: SOLV’s focus on action is sustained by connecting people with the work that needs to be done and making the connection stronger.
• Results: The results are easy to see: Clean Water. Stronger communities. Better future.

More money raised through Workplace Giving Campaigns means more tools for more volunteers to get more work done now, and in the future.

A contributor may designate a small amount of each paycheck to further SOLV’s work—or can elect to support in a single payroll deduction. Cash or credit cards are accepted as well. Like other donors, workplace giving supporters receive the following benefits:
